CIPS by Distance Learning

An approved CIPS study centre we offer the CIPS ladder of qualifications to students across the UK and Internationally enabling learners to work towards and achieve MCIPS.

You can study via distance learning on any of our CIPS Programmes from anywhere in the world using our bespoke e-learning system. We provide a;

On completion of CIPS Level 4, 5 and 6 with 3 yrs' experience in a responsible procurement position you can apply for MCIPS.

There is no entry criteria to commence on the certificate and advanced certificate levels. Below is an overview of the entry criteria for each of the CIPS Diploma qualifications, level 4 to 6.

CIPS Diploma in Procurement and Supply (CIPS Level 4)

Many students commence studying at this point on the CIPS ladder of qualifications, the entry criteria is:

  • Students without prior learning - a minimum of 2 years experience in a business environment
  • Students with prior learning - at least 2 A-levels (or international equivalent) or a Level 3 qualification.

This level can currently be studied via distance learning and via our modular programme based in Newcastle upon Tyne.

CIPS Advanced Diploma in Procurement and Supply (CIPS Level 5)

Students enter this level on completion of all units on the CIPS Diploma in Procurement and Supply unless exemptions from prior learning have been agreed with CIPS and authorisation given to commence at level 5.

This level can currently be studied via distance learning and via our modular programme based in Newcastle upon Tyne.

CIPS Professional Diploma in Procurement and Supply (CIPS Level 6)

Students enter this level on completion of all units on the CIPS Diploma and CIPS Advanced Diploma in Procurement and Supply unless exemptions from prior learning have been agreed with CIPS and authorisation given to commence at level 6. Full membership of The Chartered Institute of Purchasing (MCIPS) can be applied for on completion of this qualification with 3 years experience.

This level can currently be studied via distance learning.

CIPS Certificates

As a CIPS approved centre, we offer the suite of CIPS qualifications up to CIPS level 6 including the CIPS Certificate and Advanced Certificate in Procurement and Supply Operations.

There are no entry requirements for either of the CIPS Certificate qualifications and learners can choose where to commence their studies.

As an example:

  • A learner who's purchasing or stores duties only constitutes part of their working day or those new to the profession and looking to gain a qualification covering the basic principles of purchasing and/or stores may consider the CIPS Certificate.
  • A learner embarking on a new career in purchasing with very little or no experience but plans to progress through the CIPS qualifications may find the CIPS Advanced Certificate an ideal entry point.

Our Certificate programmes are by distance learning and you can enrol at at anytime. Our bespoke e-learning system enables contact with your tutor and programme manager, access to support materials and study plans and the upload of test questions and assignments for feedback. We will agree an exam schedule to suit you.

Diplomas in Procurement (QCF)

The Diploma in Procurement (QCF) is a competency based, non-examination qualification that is nationally recognised and approved by OFQUAL (Office of Qualifications and Examinations Regulation). This qualification is available from level 3 to level 6 with level 6 being a degree level qualification.

To undertake this qualification you must be working in a related job role to evidence your competency in the procurement process through work-based evidence and knowledge assignments. Our bespoke e-learning system enables contact with your tutor and programme manager, access to support materials and the upload of work for assessment and feedback. You tutor will mentor you throughout and guide you on choosing your optional units.

Learners commence on this qualification at the level appropriate to their job role and experience and this can easily be determined with our centre advisors but a brief overview is given below.

This qualification is delivered by distance learning.

Certificate in Procurement and Supply (QCF) Level 3

For those in a purchasing assistant role or where purchasing in not their full time responsibility i.e. administrator with buying responsibilities.

Diploma in Procurement and Supply (QCF) Level 3
For those that are new to purchasing and /junior buyers. 

Diploma in Procurement (QCF) Level 4
Suitable for people in buying or contracting roles who manage the day to day procurement cycle process. Such people may have responsibility for sourcing goods and services and/or managing supplier relationships.

Diploma in Procurement (QCF) Level 5
Aimed at procurement team leaders and category specialists who have full responsibility for managing a group of commodoties or contracts across the whole procurement process.

Diploma in Procurement and Supply (QCF) Level 6
Designed for people who work in a strategic procurement role at senior level. They will have responsibility for developing either full departmental strategies or strategies for a range of different procurements.

CIPS Newcastle Modular

An approved CIPS study centre we offer the CIPS ladder of qualifications to students across the UK and Internationally enabling learners to work towards and achieve MCIPS.

We currently offer the following CIPS programmes via modular learning study in Newcaslte upon Tyne. Modular learning is a blend of workshops and distance learning;

  • CIPS Diploma in Procurement and Supply (Level 4)
  • CIPS Advanced Diploma in Procurement and Supply (Level 5)

Our modular learning programme incorporates;

Workshops

  • 2 x 1 day teaching workshops per unit
  • 1 x revision day workshop per unit
  • Total of 15 workshops per level

MCIPS Blend of exam and WBA

It is possible to achieve CIPS Level 4, 5 and 6 (and MCIPS) with a blend of CIPS exams and the work-based assesment (WBA) Diploma in Procurement (QCF) qualification.

CIPS recognise a set range of the WBA units for exemptions towards a number of CIPS units at level 4, 5 and 6. As a provider approved to deliver both the CIPS qualifications and the Diploma in Procurement (QCF) qualifications we offer a blended learning package for learners wishing to achieve the CIPS levels with this combination of assessment methods.
